The International Construction Law
Alliance was established in June 2000. It comprises a number of law
firms that are experts in the area of construction law in a number
of countries in both hemispheres.
There are very few places on the
planet that have not utilised the services of the Alliance. Advice
has been given in most Western jurisdictions in addition to the
Eastern Block, Africa and Asia.
The cross-jurisdictional Alliance
ensures that clients who operate (or plan to operate) on a
cross-border basis can have lawyers from a common
grouping.
The member firms have been chosen by
design, the criteria being excellence in the area of construction
law and a significant client base in construction law. Many member
lawyers of these firms have published material on construction law
including leading texts in their respective
jurisdictions.
Another stipulation for the Alliance
is that only one firm per jurisdiction is eligible for membership,
hence the ICLA has only one Australian member firm, being Lovegrove
Solicitors.
Lovegrove Lord & Johnston was
one of the founding members of the ICLA. Our firm worked closely in
the development of the Alliance with our London affiliate for some
